Patented Mining Claims are tracts of privately owned land that typically enjoy the same benefits as any other privately held property. Most of them were acquired from the Federal Government many years ago my mining a property and applying for a patent. A deed to the property was then issued by the government, and the property transferred from federally held to private ownership. Many of the claims were never actually mined but were included in the original land patent and remain untouched. Patented mining claims in Mineral County are remote properties without power, well or sewer systems, and comprise some of the most beautiful and remote private property in the area. Patented mining claims are governed by the Mineral County Alpine Zoning Regulations. Unpatented mining claims differ in that only the right to mine the property is conveyed, with the ownership of the land remaining with the government. |
